In Memory of Our Buddy Boy
Today has been another difficult day.
Not only for myself, but for Rob as well. It was our last day we spent with our beautiful Buddy Boy.
Buddy had been in his 14th Year. He joined our pack in 2012, when he had been 14 months old.
Buddy was beyond full of energy, & always happy go lucky. I fondly called him my "Go Dog, Go", or "Mr. Pee A Lot".
Buddy was my best walking partner, also he was the best Aussie ever to go camping with us, and that was his "thing" to be the one of our Aussies, who always went along with us. Since Buddy loved everyone, we had never seen him protective of us, until the one time we were camping, and he.... was tied at our campsite. We had my sister, Donna, & Brother-In-Law over to our campsite for coffee, after being out for dinner with them. Wayne got up to go into our camper to use the washroom. As soon as he went to step up into the trailer, Buddy nailed his hand, drawing blood however he had just grazed the skin ! We were all in total shock, but learned very quickly he was protective of us and ours when he was tied up. Thank goodness Wayne is Wayne, as he immediately began calling Buddy, his "Blood Brother". Anytime we had seen Wayne after this incident, he always asked how his "Blood Brother" was doing.
Other than his "Blood Brother" incident, Buddy loved everyone we saw whenever we were out walking. A couple of times seeing a turtle, or any other small animal, he just kept going without a second look. Once a feral sick kitten had been in his outdoor kennel, and it was safe being in there with Buddy, as we had been surprised to find it there.
Even though Buddy loved everyone, he really had a love affair going on with his Groomer, Penny of Penny's Dog Grooming. Oh the kisses he laid on Penny, and hugs galore ! It was shameful, that Buddy Boy, of ours.
Buddy sired his last gorgeous litter of pups July 2023, at 12 Years. He has had some gorgeous pups over the years, and was quite the "Stud Muffin" with our girls.
Our Buddy Boy is going to be so missed. It is so difficult saying goodbye to an animal who has give you all his years of unconditional love.
Today also marked the last day I had spent with my Mother, before she passed on November 6th, 2020. A bittersweet memory I will always cherish, and so very grateful we had together, as it had been one of the best days in my Life I had with my Mother.
Grieving can be such a long process for some.... Death is a reality of Living, however has always been one of my biggest Fears. I do not do well with Death.
Today will pass, with tomorrow creating a new beginning taking and giving as Life does.
This is all she wrote, this day, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard"
